2023 New York City Marathon

The New York City Marathon has been held every year but twice in its 53-year history, the exceptions being 2012 when Hurricane Sandy forced its cancelation, and 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic did likewise. The race is run through all five New York boroughs, and will cover 26.2 miles of total distance. This year, more than 50,000 runners will participate in the marathon.

Coverage of the race will alternate between ESPN22 and ESPN3 for viewers outside the New York City market. Those living in New York will also be able to find Marathon coverage on WABC-TV, as well as abc7ny.com. U.S. Olympic medalist and former American record-holder Galen Rupp, two-time Olympian Des Linden, and two-time New York City Marathon champion and three-time Paralympian Amanda McGrory will join ESPN’s coverage team of Hannah Storm and John Anderson — along with Olympians Carrie Tollefson and Juan Luis Barrios — to give live updates and analysis for the race.
